What a wonderful day and show on Saturday! We managed 92 entries in the Open. WOW! This gives us an average of 91.2 entries in the Open for our first 5 shows.

Of course, with all of this growth, we will have a few growing pains. As the show entries seem to be remaining high, this has caused a few concerns.

One is parking. With so many entries, we simply can't spread out as much as we used to. Please be considerate of your trailer neighbors and understand that someone coming in late may be unable to find space and may park closer than we have grown accustomed to. Why not use this opportunity to make a new friend? Help them back their trailer in so that it takes up less space or kindly explain to them that you need a little more room. We've all been there, rushing to get to a barrel race on time, and would appreciate a friendly face. Besides, I am sure that everyone attending the show only wants to have a good time, make a nice run, and visit with me. ;)

The second concern is dogs. Remember, every dog might not love every person, especially when he or she believes that their job is to protect your trailer. Since we are now more limited on space between trailers, this becomes an added problem. I can speak from my own experience when I have walked around a trailer and been scared by a dog barking at me. No one loves dogs any more than I do but I cannot take the chance of someone getting bitten or falling off their horse because a dog has scared it. Please keep all dogs on a leash at all times and keep any highly protective animals at home. I'm sure with summer coming, even the dogs will be happier cooling it a home rather than being tied to a trailer in the heat.

My main objective continues to be to make FL 01 the best district in the state. I truly believe we are headed in the right direction this year. I am always open to suggestions and will always listen to any concerns and try to address it in a way that is fair for everyone. Let's have fun!

Remember, if you have not completed your work obligation for the year you still have plenty of time and we would love your involvement! We always need help with sign up, exhibition tickets, the clocks, setting barrels, and donations for raffle tickets.

Stay safe and hope to see you all in Quincy on May 20, 2012!

Thank you,

Dana

What a wonderful show we had at the house!  I am so sorry that the show had to be moved to Sunday due to the weather.  This was the best solution since the awards presentation was involved.  We still managed to have 69 entries in the Open.  Very impressive!

We owe a big round of applause to Pam Caya for the added money on Sunday!  She had money left over from last year and graciously donated it to our Sunday rain-out show.  We also sold 87 raffle tickets, which helped us make about $700 at the show.  Thank you all for purchasing these tickets as this money will be very helpful for the purchase of year-end awards.
